Trailer news! A lot of you have probably already seen this but a new spot for “The Amazing Spider-Man” lit up the web yesterday.
I know a lot of people complaining about how many of the images and teaser trailers released for the film made it look like a “Twilight Spider-man” with emo Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy in an angst-ridden high school setting. I think this trailer will silence the haters. The reboot looks dark, with solid acting and some punishing fight sequences.
I also like the route they’ve taken with the storyline, delving more into Parker’s family history and relationships. And for those with qualms about Tobey Maguire being replaced by Andrew Garfield, I suggest you check his resume. This kid has some acting chops, starring previously in “The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus”, “Never Let Me Go” and “The Social Network”. I’d also suggest checking out some of his work in the UK “Red Riding” series, which is excellent, and I believe is streaming on Netflix Instant Watch.
Anyways, I have some high hopes for the latest Spider-Man installment. Fingers crossed!
